Creolization in the Spanish Speaking Caribbean Welcome back friends, here we are for one last time speaking about Creolization in the Caribbean. The last area we have to cover is the Spanish Speaking Caribbean. From the lecture video one of the examples of creolization that stood out to me is the " La Tumba Francesa, (The French Drum.) " La Tumba Francesa was brought by Haitians slaves who moved to Cuba after there was some issues within their country during the 1970's. It is a section of the afro-cuban music styles. This music style is led by a solo singer singing in Spanish or creole. UNESCO states, "the catá, a large wooden idiophone, bursts into a pulsating beat enhanced by three drums known as tumbas."
